Rare spec AEV Prospector XL conversion finished February 2019 in AEV Factory in Detroit, MI. Single / Regular Cab, BLACK, Cummins 4×4. AEV confirmed they have built less than 3 of these, and are extremely rare (probably only 3 built). As you can tell, this is enthusiast owned and unique.
In addition to the American Expedition Vehicles – Prospector XL conversion (which we will detail) the truck also has – black headliner with fiber optics (to complete the prospector theme), Pace Edwards power tonneau (ultragroove), linex bedliner, upfitted audio/video/bluetooth (to ram premium models) undercarriage anti-corrosion liner (and each bolt was re-marked for position).
The Prospector XL is the ultimate, adventure ready vehicle platform from American Expedition Vehicles. Featuring up to 40-inch tires to maximize ground clearance, while still retaining the factory Ram load and towing ratings. The Prospector XL was engineered to ride and handle better than a stock Ram HD. HighMark Fender Flares accommodate up to 40-inch tires in conjunction with the AEV 3-inch DualSport suspension system. This keeps the Prospector XL’s center of gravity as low as possible. Ram-assisted steering also helps retain factory road feel. The Prospector XL is ideal for hauling dirt bikes, snowmobiles, or other toys to remote locations. Slide-in campers are another popular bed addition. AEV tested the Prospector XL in harsh conditions in remote locations, giving our customers the confidence to go way off the beaten path and get back intact.
Each Prospector XL is easily identifiable. AEV-branded indicators include exterior bison-logo emblems, a Windshield Banner, Embroidered Headrests, and a Custom Gauge Cluster Emblem.
Each AEV Prospector XL is professionally assembled at AEV’s Detroit-area factory. Like all other AEV turnkey vehicles, every Prospector XL receives a door-mounted Build Plaque containing that vehicle’s unique serial number and build date.

HD FRONT BUMPER: Made from stamped 4mm steel for the optimal combination of strength and weight-savings. The Prospector Premium Front Bumper is engineered to retain OE airflow characteristics for proper engine cooling. A new intercooler shroud is included for diesel applications. Ductile-iron tow loops double as Hi-Lift jack points and wear plates. The bumper includes mounts for an optional Warn 16.5ti winch and of Vision-X LED lighting.
HIGHMARK FENDER FLARES: Cheap single-wall plastic flares ultimately get brittle and crack. AEV uses ¼-inch-thick rotomolded polyethylene, inspired by kayaks and Mercedes Unimog flares. The Prospector XL HighMark kit includes inner fender liners for a finished look and provides 4.5 inches of additional tire coverage to legally run wider tires on the street.
HEAT REDUCTION HOOD: Two strategically placed vents reduce underhood temperature significantly, particularly in slow-going off-road situations. AEV uses 23-gauge stamped steel for enduring durability. While it provides aggressive styling, it is also a vital upgrade for heavy towing or traversing challenging terrain off-road at low speeds.
KATLA WHEELS: Cast from A356/T6 aluminum, the Katla is tested to stringent SAE J2350 standards, and feature a valve stem recess to protect the valve and its Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) from being torn off or damaged in rough terrain. These wheels have a RAM-specific backspacing for the perfect fitment of a 37-inch to a 41-inch tire.
The Prospector XL offers Ram owners two upgraded leather interior packages. Upgrade to leather with our base package or increase styling with our Premium F1 Package. Owner opted for the base package on this example.
